
studied economics and mathematics at the University of Mannheim. In 1997, he completed his doctorate with a thesis on public goods at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), where he also habilitated in 2001. Since 2005, he has been a professor at the Institute of Economics (ECON) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). From 2008 to 2013, he was also a professor at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. His research focuses on game and decision theory, particularly in relation to auctions and risk decisions. Other topics include the transfer and application of concepts and findings from economic theory and experimental economic research to strategic issues in industry and politics.
