
Wilke Briese has been the managing partner of Briese Schiffahrt in Leer since 2016. The family-owned company Briese was founded in 1984 and today specializes in the transport of infrastructure goods with around 140 heavy lift vessels and 30 branches worldwide. In Germany, the group employs around 320 people at its sites in Leer, Emden, Hamburg, Bremen and Cuxhaven. In addition to its shipping activities, Briese is also responsible for the technical support of seven German research vessels and is the operator of the wind offshore terminal currently under construction in Cuxhaven.
Before joining Briese Schiffahrt in 2010, Wilke Briese worked for the Bernhard Schulte shipping company in Hamburg from 2007 to 2010, focusing on project development and newbuildings in China. His academic education combines technical, maritime and digital skills: He studied Software Systems Engineering at the Hasso Plattner Institute at the University of Potsdam, Ship and Ocean Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Wilke Briese has been a member of the Board of Directors of the German Shipowners’ Association since 2015.
