Why in Binz this year?
Dear longtime guests of WFO-Helgoland!
We are drawn for the first time to another German island in 2023 for the 12th WFO, which has also been a very strong advocate for offshore wind: After eleven years on the North Sea, this year we cordially invite you to Binz on Rügen in the Baltic Sea. By ICE we will start with you on Thursday morning, August 31 in Hamburg or Berlin (there is of course also an airport on Rügen). Binz offers us offshore wind at our fingertips and a wide range of event, accommodation and excursion options – within walking distance, just like on Heligoland. Even though Binz is a few sizes bigger, the number of participants remains limited.
There, in front of Sassnitz, not even 7 km away from Binz, some wind farm projects will be projected and installed in the next years.

Either via
Rostock-Laage (RLG)

For small aircraft, the Rügen airfield is a good choice, which is located in the center, near the city of Bergen. You can find more information to Flugplatz Rügen here.
By car:
Via the A 20 from HH. Or via the A 19 from Berlin.

For the evening of the WFO, we will all gather at the Arkona Sky Bar for dinner. This is just an 8-minute walk from the Travel Charme Kurhaus and can be easily reached via the Binzer Promenade.
There, the glass Sky Bar lift takes you to the lofty heights.
We then look forward to ending the evening with you with a view in the direction of the wind farms off Stralsund.
