Bengt Bergt

Deputy Spokesman for Climate Protection and Energy in the SPD Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag

Member of the German Bundestag since 2021 and deputy spokesman for climate protection and energy in the SPD parliamentary group. He is a full member of the Committee for Climate Protection and Energy, where he is responsible in particular for the topics of wind power and natural gas. The focus of his work is on the industrial and social policy aspects of the energy transition. He is also a member of the Petitions Committee and a substitute member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee.

Bengt Bergt was born in 1982 in Luckenwalde, Brandenburg, and grew up in Saxony-Anhalt. He studied English, German and History at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and International Communication at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. He then worked as a technical writer and translator in the automation engineering and offshore sectors. Later, as chairman of the works council, he championed the interests of employees at Nordex’s Hamburg site. Most recently, he represented the 3,000 German and 5,300 European employees as Deputy Chairman of the Group Works Council and European Works Council.
