Thierry Aelens

Thierry Aelens has been working in the energy sector for more than 25 years including almost 20 years in renewables. He has unique experience in offshore wind energy projects and has been directly involved in the implementation of more than 5 000 MW of operating renewable energy projects. Thierry Aelens holds an RCI Civil Engineer Degree from UCL (Belgium) and post graduates from RWTH (Aachen-Germany) and UG (Gent-Belgium), as well as an Executive MBA from INSEAD. He has broadened his knowledge in the marine engineering, oil and gas and energy sectors through various professional trainings and studies. Since 7 March 2022, Thierry Aelens has been Chief Executive Officer at Ignitis Renewables.
